I love the fact that as an animator, you still take your drawings serious...im currently a flash animator, but i really want to end up being a 3d animator, but i use to practice drawing everyday, and i use to paint,if i have the chance, but people use to say,i should concentrate on my animation and forget about learning, life drawing, painting, composition if i want to be an outstanding animator....seeing that you are an animator and you are very good at drawing really is encouraging...and do you have any advice for me sir?....and oh!..good work on naughty dog's 'the last of us'

Hey Bamidele Olubunmi J.,

Thank you for the kind words. Drawing and traditional animation obviously go hand and hand, but 3D animators also benefit from building their drawing skills. Flow, composition, natural posing and weight are just a few things that carry over from drawing to 3D animation. I say draw as often as you can stand to. Animate as often as possible and even in 2d. I find animating in 2D helps me loosen up and be more creative. I try to apply as much of what I learn from my 2D anim into my 3D.

The work my teammates and I did on PPG and PPG the Movies was all 3D rendered to look like 2D. We worked very hard to make our 3D models look and feel as hand drawn as possible. The 3D IS identifiable but not jarringly so. I think the integration works pretty well.
